LONG BEACH, CA — A homeless woman was arrested on suspicion of burglary in Long Beach Wednesday night after a SWAT standoff inside a home.

At about 7:24 p.m. the Long Beach Police Department received a report of a burglary in the 1500 block of Summit Street. When officers arrived they were told a woman entered a residence and barricaded herself inside alone.

"Officers made numerous callouts for the suspect to exit the residence, but she refused. Members of the SWAT team responded to the scene," LBPD said in a statement.

Authorities were able to take the woman into custody without incident after a short time. The woman was identified as 21-year-old Samara Lenai Allen, who officers said was experiencing homelessness at the time of her arrest.

Alen was booked on suspicion of vandalism, resisting arrest and burglary. Her bail is pending magistrate review and the investigation is ongoing, LBPD said.
