LONG BEACH, CA — A driver crashed and died after having a medical emergency and losing control of his car early Thursday morning, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police received a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 2300 block of East 70th Street at about 12:30 a.m. When officers, arrived they found a man unresponsive inside a 2010 Dodge Charger.

"Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and performed lifesaving measures, however they determined him deceased at the scene," LBPD said in a statement.

According to preliminary investigation results, police believe the man may have had a medical emergency, which caused him to lose control of the car and crash into a wall.

Police said speed, impaired driving and distracted driving are not considered factors in the crash. The identity of the driver was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
