Shooting Victim Walks To Long Beach Police Department

A wounded man walked to the Long Beach Police Department after he was shot in his upper body Sunday night, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA — A man is in stable condition after he was shot near the Long Beach Convention Center Sunday night, police said.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, a man walked to the Public Safety Building at 400 West Broadway at about 8 p.m. after he was shot. Police said they saw the man had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in his upper body.

"Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition," LBPD said in a statement.

Preliminary investigation results suggest that the victim was walking near the area of The Paseo and Aquarium Way when an unknown man called out to him and shot a gun in his direction.

The suspect fled the scene prior to officers' arrival and no additional injuries were reported. Police are still investigating the suspect's identity and the motive for the shooting.
