MVLA: Help your High Schooler going into College Admissions [Virtual]

The Mid-Peninsula Widow and Widowers Association (<a href="https://www.mpwwa1.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mpwwa1.org</a>)&nbsp;is a 501(c)(3)&nbsp;non-profit, non-sectarian organization whose membership is comprised exclusively of widows and widowers.&nbsp;The group organizes activities for its members so they can stay engaged with others doing fun, social activities after the passing of their spouse. Group activities include: meals at local restaurants; games including Bocce Ball, Bowling, Card Games; weekly business meetings in Los Altos often followed by a speaker and entertainment; picnic and more.
The group meets on the first&nbsp;Tuesday of every month from 1:30 pm-3:00 pm. and the following Tuesday&nbsp;nights from 7:30--9:00 pm.&nbsp; Visitors are welcome to join us, at no charge, and should arrive 30 minutes before the meeting starts.&nbsp;

Widow and Widowers Association Meetings; Visitors Welcome

As part of its Third Thursday programs, Los Altos History Museum invites the community to experience the
vibrant world of Bharatanatyam with “Harmony in Motion: The Vishwa Shanthi Dance Experience ,” on July
18 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
This event features a live demonstration by students from the Vishwa Shanthi Academy , who will perform
the intricate and expressive Indian classical dance form, Bharatanatyam, wearing traditional costumes.
Shreelata Suresh, the Academy’s Artistic Director, will share the history and deeper meanings behind the
dance, providing a window into a rich cultural tradition.
The Third Thursday programs offer a blend of education and community engagement, allowing visitors to
learn and mingle over refreshments and wine. Admission is $15 per person and free for Museum members.

Foothills Nature Preserve

On Saturday, July 20 we will offer 2 hikes! We are meeting with Grant from Christ Episcopal Church at Foothills Nature Preserve in Los Altos Hills at 9:30. You can choose the hike that appeals to you. Please note the special time of 9:30, which will give us a bit cooler weather.
Bobbi will lead a 2-3 mile hike to the Toyon Trail on the left that ends at Foothill Entrance. From here we take the trail around Boranda Lake, then along the road back to Orchard Glen Parking. Optional walk to the Interpretive Center from here. Toyon Trail is slightly uphill in the beginning, then downhill. You may want hiking poles. Boranda Trail is flat. 
Grant will lead a 5 mile hike. He is thinking of doing Fern loop to Costanoan to Los Trancos to the bench on the ridge, then take the fire road down to Steep Hollow or Los Trancos. There will be some climbing on this hike.
Bring a snack, water, sunscreen, and a sunhat. No lunch is planned. To carpool: RSVP is required if you would like to carpool: email info@foothills-church.org by 10 AM on Friday July 19. Please provide your cell phone number. Carpooling is advised as there is a $6 entrance fee. Meet at church at 9:00.
To drive yourself: Foothills Nature Preserve is off Page Mill Road, a little over 2 miles from the stop sign at the Park and Ride lot on Page Mill. Meet us in the Orchard Glen Parking area at 9:30 AM.

Los Altos History Museum

Enjoy apricot waffles, sausages and fruit in <a href="https://www.losaltoshistory.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Los Altos History Museum's</a>
courtyard, followed by a talk with author and historian Robin Chapman based on her latest book, “The Valley of Heart's Delight: True Tales from Around the Bay.” The event, “Book Talk and Brunch: Exploring Bay Area Tales with Robin Chapman,” is scheduled for July 27 from 10:00 am to noon.
Over the years, the Valley has attracted a variety of notable residents, from Hollywood stars seeking leisure to billionaires growing apricots for pleasure. It has also been home to orchards, electric railroads, Army camps, and even a love-struck poet. These stories make up the true tales in Chapman’s book. 
Chapman will sign copies of the book, with proceeds going toward the Museum. Admission is $15 per person, free for Museum members.
