DEA Drug Take-Back Day: Drop-Off Sites In Martinez, Nearby

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office is accepting unwanted prescription medications Saturday at several locations.

MARTINEZ, CA — The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration invite residents of Contra Costa County to participate in National Drug Take-Back Day this Saturday.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, residents can bring their unused or expired medications to any of the seven drop-off sites throughout the county, including in Martinez.

At the most recent Take-Back Day in April, Contra Costa County residents dropped off 872 pounds of prescription medications, a DEA spokesperson told Patch.

  • This service is free and anonymous; no questions are asked.
  • Only pills, patches and liquids sealed in their original containers are accepted.
  • Needles and sharps cannot be accepted.
  • Vape pens or other e-cigarette devices are only accepted after the batteries are removed from the devices.
