2018 Mill Valley Film Festival Underway
The 41st edition of the film festival runs through Oct. 14. Plus, check out photos from the event.
MILL VALLEY, CA – As one of the premiere film festivals in the world, the Mill Valley Film Festival is a place to be and a place to be seen — well, of course, to enjoy cinema at its best with friends, families, and movie lovers from around the world. And for a very good reason: The film festival prides itself with a reputation for launching new films and creating awards season chatter.
This year marks the 41st anniversary of the film festival. The event kicked off on Thursday, Oct. 4, with two powerhouse dramas: “A Private War,” Matthew Heineman’s film about the celebrated war correspondent Marie Colvin, starring Rosamund Pike — and — “Green Book,” Peter Farrelly’s road-trip movie about two polar opposites traveling the deep south, starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen.
Throughout the 11-day film festival, a series of tributes and spotlights celebrates exceptional artists including Carey Mulligan, Paul Dano, Alfonso Cuaron, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Amandla Stenberg, Joel Edgerton, Karyn Kusama, Richard E. Grant, and Pawel Pawlikowski.
