MILL VALLEY, CA — An excessive heat warning is in effect in Mill Valley as temperatures soar across the San Francisco Bay Area and the state of California amid a record-breaking heat wave.
Hot and dry weather is expected through midweek, according to the National Weather Service. The excessive heat warning is in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday in the North Bay interior valleys.
"Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses,
particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities," weather officials said.

To stay safe during the heat wave, officials urged residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Children and pets should be never be left unattended in a vehicle, with car interiors able to "reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes."
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location, officials advised. Call 911 immediately for heat-related illness.
