Heat Advisory Issued For Mill Valley Amid Heat Wave

The heat wave will impact the region through at least Wednesday of next week, according to the National Weather Service.

MILL VALLEY, CA — The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory Friday for the San Francisco Bay Area, including Mill Valley, as a heat wave passes across California.

The heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the North Bay interior valleys, San Francisco Bay shoreline and Santa Cruz mountains.

"Elevated heat will increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly among vulnerable populations and those working outdoors or in areas without air conditioning," forecasters said.

The heat wave will impact the region through at least Wednesday of next week, according to the National Weather Service. The heat will target interior areas for the full duration of the heat wave, with daily afternoon highs in the upper 90s to mid 100s. Drastic temperature differences will exist from the coast to the interior and communities just miles inland may experience rapid warming into the upper 80s to 90s on individual days.

"Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors," weather officials said. "Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances."

Officials warn that residents should be wary of heat exhaustion or heat stroke after spending prolonged time outdoors.

Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Call 911 immediately for heat-related illness.
