Marin Coroner ID's Boater Found Dead in Tomales Bay

Meanwhile, another boater remains missing.

The Marin County coroner’s office has identified a boater who was found dead in Tomales Bay after a fishing boat capsized Monday as 55-year-old Ananiy Malinovskiy of Roseville.

Three men were aboard the 20-foot fishing vessel. One was found alive after he was rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter, Malinovskiy was found dead and the third man is still missing, National Park Service spokesman John Dell’Osso said.

The rescued man was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

A passing vessel found Malinovskiy’s body. Marin County Fire Department personnel recovered the body and pronounced Malinovskiy dead at 11 a.m. Monday, Chief Deputy Coroner Darrell Harris said.

Dell’Osso said it appears the three men were not wearing life vests when the boat capsized. A vessel near the mouth of Tomales Bay put out a distress call at 9 a.m. Monday, Dell’Osso said.
