Obituary: Linda Harlow of Mill Valley, Longtime Corte Madera Fire Dept. Employee, Passes Away

Linda Sue Harlow, 57, was also a member of local Marin choirs.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Linda Sue Harlow, 57, passed away on July 17, 2016 in San Rafael, California after an eight-year courageous battle with colon cancer. She remained optimistic to the end and was a great source of encouragement and inspiration to all those who knew her.

Linda was born and raised in Indio, California but lived in Mill Valley for the last 24 years. Linda worked 35 years in public safety for Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Newport Beach Police Department, Cathedral City Police Department, Mill Valley Police Department, and for 15 years for Corte Madera Fire Department before retiring in December of 2014.

Linda sang in many choirs including Palm Desert Master Chorale, Singers Marin (singing at Carnegie Hall three times, a European tour, and Sydney, Australia), Dominican University Chorale, and Marin Symphony Chorus. Her other interests were cross-stitch, reading, New York City, attending concerts and theater, and her love of tulips.

Linda is predeceased by her father Roger Harlow and brother Richard Harlow. She is survived by her mother Gwen Harlow, sister Deanna Harlow, and brothers Robert (Suzy), James, and Donald, and many nieces and nephews.

A public graveside service was held on Friday, July 29, at Coachella Valley Cemetery, 82925 Ave. 52, Coachella, California.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at Corte Madera Parks and Recreation, 498 Tamalpais Dr., Corte Madera, California.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Colon Cancer Alliance or Central Park Conservancy.
