MILL VALLEY, CA — Stacey Waldspurger was among many who took up baking sourdough bread while the world was under lockdown.

What sets the Mill Valley resident apart is that she’s never stopped.

Waldspurger’s pandemic hobby soon became her passion, and it has inspired one of Mill Valley’s newest eateries.

The bakery for currently open on Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Waldscraft Cottage Bakery pop-up is being hosted by Ged Robertson of Bootjack Woodfired, but its looks "forward to eventually putting down roots at 17 Madrona," Waldspurger told Patch in an email.

“I began making sourdough breads like many people did a year ago, but I couldn’t stop. I would make it and deliver to friends and neighbors to try,” Waldspurger wrote on the bakery’s Facebook page.

Waldspurger got her start last February, when she secured a Cottage Food Permit to operate from her home.

“Our baked goods are made with Organic, fairly traded, and high quality ingredients because that matters,” Waldspurger said.

“We are working hard to introduce whole grains into the breads and baked goods, and are expanding our wheat free offerings. But what I am most proud of is seeing so many people sharing our goods as gifts for others. That is a dream come true for me - people sharing within the community and using our goods as a means to show kindness and caring.”

Waldspurger was buzzing in the days after the opening.

"Feeling so grateful to all the amazing supporters and team players who came out to help make our weekend at 17 Madrona a huge success," she wrote on the bakery's Facebook page.

"You can expect to see more of it there for sure after a weekend like this! We will share a schedule of our upcoming dates shortly. And yes, we will make more bread!!"
