Richardson Bay Bridge Work Resumes This Weekend

Concrete work planned in the southbound lanes will lead to a few late-night impacts on the 101, and a little noise for neighbors.

Caltrans said the project is designed to keep the bridge in good condition and avoid costly repairs in the future.

MILL VALLEY, CA — Marin County drivers and cyclists should plan for a few interruptions this weekend as Caltrans crews return to pour new concrete on the Richardson Bay Bridge. The $22 million project is designed to preserve the structure and reduce the chances for costlier repairs in the future.

Crews will close the Frontage Road on-ramp for Highway 101 at 8 p.m. Saturday for preliminary work and are scheduled to reopen the ramp by 9 a.m. Sunday. Up to three southbound lanes on the 101 will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday.

The bicycle lane on the southbound shoulder will also be shut down during construction, and cyclists can detour onto northbound 101 to Frontage Road, turning on Hamilton Drive, then the Mill Valley Sausalito bike path.

Beyond the traffic impacts, Caltrans warned neighbors that they may notice occasional noise and dust related to the work. As usual, officials ask drivers to exercise caution in work zones. Real-time traffic information is available on the Caltrans QuickMap.

The project is scheduled for completion in the fall.
