Stay Cool, Mill Valley! HOT Weather on the Way: NWS

Some inland parts of the Bay Area are forecast to hit 100+ degrees this weekend. Lucky North Bay residents won't have it quite that bad.

National Weather Service forecasters are warning Bay Area residents that a warmup in on its way— and some local cities will likely see triple digit temperatures by the week's end.

Temperatures in the Bay Area on Thursday will reach the mid to upper 90s and go up a couple of degrees on Friday. Saturday, the temperatures will start to go down, data from the National Weather Service shows.

The North Bay and Peninsula regions will have among the lowest temperatures in the region, while over in the Livermore area, it could get up to 102 degrees on Friday, according to weather data.

  • Novato: Thursday, 88; Friday, 92
  • San Rafael: Thursday, 83; Friday 87
  • San Anselmo: Thursday 84; Friday 88
  • Larkspur: Thursday, 79; Friday 82
  • Mill Valley: Thursday, 76; Friday, 78

And here are some of the temperatures Peninsula residents may see:

  • Pacifica: Thursday, 66; Friday, 68
  • Half Moon Bay: Thursday, 69; Friday, 70
  • Redwood City: Thursday, 84; Friday 88
  • Belmont: Thursday, 82; Friday, 85
  • San Mateo: Thursday, 83; Friday 85
  • San Bruno: Thursday, 73; Friday, 76
  • South San Francisco: Thursday, 71; Friday, 73
  • Burlingame: Thursday, 81; Friday, 83
  • Millbrae: Thursday, 75; Friday, 78
  • Foster City: Thursday, 74; Friday, 76
  • San Carlos: Thursday, 82; Friday, 85
  • Menlo Park: Thursday, 85; Friday, 88

Nighttime temperatures will cool down rapidly to the low to mid 60s in most locations except for the Big Sur area, where nighttime and early morning temperatures are forecast to remain in the mid to upper 70s.

As a result of hot weather forecast throughout the state, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is urging employers to protect employees working outside from heat illness.

What's more, the Bay Area's first Spare the Air smog alert for the year has been called for Thursday.
