Tamalpais UHSD Taps Cedros For Top Administrative Role

MARIN COUNTY, CA — The Tamalpais Union High School District announced Wednesday its search for a new top administrator has concluded with the promotion of Wesley Cedros.

Cedros will replace Lars Christensen as the district’s next assistant superintendent of human resources.

Christensen has announced his retirement from the district, which is effective June 30.

Cedros currently serves as the Senior Director of Student Services for the district, a role he has held for the past 8 years.

Cedros said in a statement he’s eager to work with Superintendent Tara Taupier in his new role.

“I am humbled and honored to be given the opportunity to serve TUHSD and I’m really looking forward to engaging with our amazing staff in a new capacity,” he said.

Cedros has worked in the education field for over 20 years in multiple roles including as school psychologist, site administrator and Director of Special Education.

He has worked in a variety of urban and suburban settings and with diverse populations of children and young adults, including incarcerated, homeless and foster youth and youth with severe emotional disabilities.

Cedros in his current role oversees discipline, attendance, special education, counseling and student support services for TUHSD.

He has overseen the development, planning and implementation of Wellness Centers at each of the three comprehensive high schools in the district.

Cedros started his career in education and adolescent mental health in 1999 as a school psychologist in San Leandro, CA.

He spent six years as Lead Psychologist for the Palo Alto Unified School District and another year as Assistant Principal at Gunn High School before moving to Marin to become an Assistant Principal at Redwood High School.

Cedros attended The College of William & Mary in Virginia, where he earned a Master’s of Education in School Psychology and an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology, graduating with honors.

Prior to graduate school, Cedros worked as a research assistant in the Department of Psychology at the University of California – Berkeley.

He also worked as a research assistant for the University of Oregon’s Department of Education, investigating the effectiveness of curriculum-based measurement.

Cedros completed his undergraduate work at the University of Oregon, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Biology.

“We, as a district, are extremely fortunate to have someone with the expertise and experience that Wes possesses,” Taupier said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to see him take on a cabinet level position in the District and look forward to his tenure as assistant superintendent.”
