Tony York Of Sausalito, Son Of 49ers Owners, Dies at 35
He started his own company, helped the 49ers Foundation, and also worked closely with incarcerated youth, the family said.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Tony York, the 35-year-old son of the San Francisco 49ers owners Denise DeBartolo York and John York, and the brother of Jed York, has died, the team announced Saturday.
A cause of death wasn't given in a statement from the York family posted on the 49ers website.
"With deep sadness, we mourn the passing of our beloved son and brother, Tony," the statement said.

"Although our hearts are quite heavy at this time, we have so many special memories shared with him to carry us forward. Tony will forever be remembered as a bright, spirited entrepreneur with an unmatched passion to serve others who could brighten a room with his personality and sense of humor. Tony, we love you."
A resident of Sausalito, Tony York was a high-tech entrepreneur who founded Koda, a company focused on preparing young people for their first jobs upon graduating college.

Koda was inspired by what he called "life-shaping experiences" when he was a senior at Tulane University in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina devastated the region, the statement said.
Tony York had a passion for philanthropy instilled in him by his parents and shared closely with his brother and sisters, the family statement said.
He supported a number of nonprofit efforts, such as the 49ers Foundation, and also worked closely with incarcerated youth, the family said.
York earned letters in both football and baseball at Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio.
Born on Aug. 3, 1983 in Youngstown, Ohio, Tony York is survived by his parents, brother Jed (Danielle), sisters Jenna and Mara, and nephews Jaxon and Brixton.
