MILL VALLEY, CA — Mill Valley authorities have launched a hate crime investigation after multiple Ukrainian flags were vandalized with swastikas over the weekend, according to police.

Investigators said a resident discovered swastikas spray-painted on flags displayed on private property on the 100 block of Molino Avenue early Saturday afternoon. The victim told officers the flags were vandalized sometime between Friday evening and Saturday morning. While investigating, police discovered another vandalized Ukrainian flag on a neighboring property near Molino Avenue and Wildomar Street.

According to police, officers canvassed the area for witnesses and homes with surveillance systems. Investigators culled through several hours of video but have not identified a suspect in the case. Detectives are treating the incident as a potential hate crime and are asking residents in the area to check if they have any video that may have caught the culprit in the act.
