MARIN COUNTY, CA — Caltrans crews will be working on the roadside along Highway 101 this week to complete vegetation reduction work in Sausalito. The second segment of the project is part of the agency's partnership with the Southern Marin Fire Department designed to reduce wildfire risks in the warmer months.

The work entails mowing, removing low-hanging limbs and dead or dying trees, and thinning dense tree stands. This segment will require crews to close the far-right southbound lane of the highway between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. near Spencer Avenue. The project is scheduled to wrap on Friday afternoon.

Caltrans said it continues to work with local, regional and state fire marshals to identify more areas in need of vegetation control to help reduce the Golden State's overall fire threat.
