Diner Alert: 'Taste Of Korea' Prix-Fixe Menu At Roy’s Restaurant

PASADENA, CA — Gourmands who enjoy an exotic dining experience may wish to take advantage of the "Taste of Korea" offerings available for a limited time at Roy’s Restaurant in Pasadena.

The three-course, prix-fixe menu will be served through the end of August at the eatery at 641 East Colorado Blvd., renown for its Pacific-Rim cuisine and founded by chef Roy Yamaguchi, a Japanese native and frequent visitor to Hawaii.

Part of the restaurant's "Global Tasting Series" and priced from $44 to $49, the special menu features such bold Korean dishes as Crispy Calamari Salad, Galbi Boneless Beef Short Ribs and Sesame Crusted Salmon Bibimbap, all inspired by Yamaguchi's heritage. The menu starts at $44 - $49 and will be available only through the end of August.

Yamaguchi, who opened his first Roy's Restaurant in 1988 in Honolulu, now boasts 22 Roy's around the world, with California locations in Anaheim, La Jolla, San Diego, San Francisco, Woodland Hills, Rancho Mirage and Pasadena.

An author of four cookbooks, Yamaguchi was Hawaii's first recipient of the prestigious James Beard Award. His signature Roy's dishes include Lobster Potstickers, Misoyaki “Butterfish,” Roasted Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi and Roy’s Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé.

With this latest Global Tasting Series, the restaurateur aims to give guests an authentic culinary adventure without having to leave home. The Global Tasting Series began earlier this year with the "Taste of Japan." After "Taste of Korea" wraps at summer's end, another adventurous dining menu is planned, but details are not yet released.
