Monrovia Finalist For Most Business-Friendly City Award

The awards are judged on five criteria by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation.

MONROVIA, CA – The finalists have been announced for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation's 2017 Most Business-Friendly City award for municipalities of more than 68,000 residents: Compton, Downey, Inglewood, Lakewood and Long Beach.

For smaller cities, the finalists are Arcadia, Azusa, Monrovia, Rosemead and Santa Fe Springs, according to the LAEDC. Winners of the awards will be announced Nov. 9 at the LAEDC's 22nd annual Eddy Awards ceremony in downtown Los Angeles.

The awards are judged on five criteria:

  • A demonstrated priority commitment to economic development
  • Programs and services designed to facilitate business entry, expansion and retention
  • Competitive business tax rates and fees
  • Availability of economic incentives
  • Effective communication with and about business clients

Last year's award winners were Pico Rivera and Santa Clarita.
