MONROVIA, CA — A federal grand jury on Wednesday charged a Monrovia man with producing and distributing child pornography depicting himself sexually abusing a 2-year-old, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

David Lisandro Perez Figueroa, 22, of Monrovia was indicted on charges of production of child pornography and distribution of child pornography. He's set to be arraigned on Dec. 28 in federal court in Los Angeles, according to prosecutors.

Figueroa was arrested earlier this month. A judge on Dec. 6 ordered him jailed without bond, prosecutors said.

Figueroa is accused of coercing a 2-year-old child "into engaging in sexually explicit conduct with him for the purposed of making a visual depiction of the conduct," the U.S. Attorney's office said.

Prosecutors said Figueroa distributed the material on X, formerly known as Twitter.

As part of another investigation, British law enforcement discovered the X chat logs with the material and notified U.S. law enforcement. Agents executed a search warrant at Figueroa's home on Dec. 5 based on this information and arrested him, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

If convicted as charged, Figueroa would face a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and a statutory maximum sentence of 50 years in federal prison.
