Plane Crash Kills 2 At CA Airport: Reports

CHINO, CA — Two people were killed when their small, World War II-era aircraft crashed at Chino Airport, according to reports.

A twin-engine Lockheed 12A crashed during takeoff at 12:35 p.m. Saturday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Two people were onboard, an agency spokesperson told Patch.

Both people died in the crash, a Chino Valley Fire District spokesperson told ABC7 Los Angeles. Nobody on the ground was injured.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident with the FAA's assistance. An NTSB investigator is expected on-scene this Sunday. The aircraft will then be taken to a secure facility for further evaluation.

A preliminary report is expected within 30 days, an NTSB spokesperson told Patch. But full investigations, which include a probable cause of the crash, typically take 1-2 years to complete.
