Television Travel Host Huell Howser Dead at 67

The public television travel host explored sites in California, including several spots in Monrovia.

Huell Howser, who showcased the sites of California, including small towns and off-the-beaten-path locations, in his public television show “California’s Gold” died Monday, according to OC Weekly.

Howser, 67, a native of Gallatin, Tenn., was a reporter in Los Angeles before joining KCET. He retired from broadcasting unexpectedly last year in November.

Howser interviewed Monrovia resident and whistling champion Carole Anne Kaufman in 2010 and stopped by the Wizard of Bras on Myrtle Avenue the same year.
