đź“° Here are the top stories in Orange County today:

  1. A 44-year-old Norwalk resident was arrested for groping a child from behind in the wave pool at Knott's Soak City. Reportedly, the suspect touched the child inappropriately and took photos of kids. He has since been released because no charges were filed. (Patch)
  2. If you drive by Dana Point’s Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa today, you’ll see hotel workers on strike. Workers say that they “have been repeatedly assaulted, threatened, and had property destroyed.” One example cited is the venue’s celebrity chef breaking a striking worker’s drum and unloading vulgarities. Strikers will be at the property from noon to 3 p.m. (Fullerton Observer)
  3. Placentia/Yorba Linda Unified has parted ways with the California Schools Boards Association. This makes it the only OC school district that won’t receive the Association’s “training, advocacy and policy analysis assistance.” Superintendent Alex Cherniss applauded the school board, calling into question the cost and purpose of membership. (The Orange County Register/paywall)
  4. The Anaheim Elementary Succeeds Program is coming back for another year. Last year, students were able to participate in extracurricular activities between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. In addition to providing homework help and allowing for sports participation, the program offered “culturally relevant art classes such as mariachi and congo.” (Spectrum News 1)
  5. Peters Canyon Regional Park in Orange is ground zero for Perseids Meteor Shower watchers today. Fans begin assembling at 7:30 p.m. and you can see “the evening night sky lit up by the cascading flashes of meteors” until about 9:30 p.m. (Patch)
