Fire Burns OC Strip Mall, Forcing Road Closures

The fire broke out early Wednesday morning and was still burning as of 10 a.m., Anaheim city officials said.

ANAHEIM, CA — A fire broke out in an Orange County strip mall Wednesday, covering the area in smoke and prompting a series of morning rush-hour closures.

The blaze broke out early Wednesday morning in the 1200 block of South State College Boulevard in the City of Anaheim. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

State College Boulevard was closed between Ball and Winston Road, and Ball was closed between Sunkist and East Streets, the City of Anaheim reported.

City officials notified business owners Monday that they would not have access to their businesses during the closures.

Motorists were strongly advised to avoid the area and rely on the 57 Freeway or East Street for north-south travel, and Cerritos and Lincoln avenues for east-west trips.

No injuries were reported and no further information was immediately released.
