14th Annual Jazz It Up: Bill Marx for ACT for Multiple Sclerosis

Bill Marx Tickles the Ivories for Charity on Bastille Day

Pianist and composer Bill Marx, son of Harpo Marx of the Marx Brothers, will once again tickle the ivories this Sunday, July 14 from 5 to 8 pm to benefit charity. Known for his wit, charm and philanthropic heart, Marx and his Band is raising funds to benefit local CV residents with Multiple Sclerosis. Marx will be joined by cousin Gregg Marx on vocals. Attendees will hear mainly standards from the Great American Songbook at the 14th Annual ACT for Multiple Sclerosis Jazz It Up at Mission Hills Country Club, 34600 Mission Hills Drive, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270.

Attendees are guaranteed over 2 hours of music in a casual atmosphere with hosted cocktail reception with appetizers, summer buffet, hosted open bar, silent auction offerings, music and camaraderie, all for the very affordable price of $150 per person, which includes a tax-deductible donation! (VIP seats are $180). Tickets can be purchased online at actforms.org or by emailing [email protected] or by calling 760-773-9806.

Funds raised benefit ACT for Multiple Sclerosis (MS), the local charity started by the late journalist and Palm Springs icon Gloria Greer when her daughter Norma Greer was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. MS is a neurological, autoimmune disease that strikes individuals in their prime earning years, often interrupting their ability to hold full time jobs. Over 50% of ACT for MS clients live at or below the poverty line. ACT for MS provides free programs that are not covered by insurance. Enhanced strength training, circulation and mental health therapies, chair yoga, mobility aids such as scooters, wheelchairs and walkers as well as educational workshops which help offset depression and loneliness round out the offerings. These programs help individuals live stronger, longer, often delaying the need to use a wheelchair by years, not months. All funds raised stay in the desert.
