INDIO, CA — Construction of a new clubhouse at The Lights at Indio Golf Course is underway Friday.

The city of Indio and The Lights at Indio Golf Course announced the groundbreaking of the new clubhouse Thursday.

A fully night-lit golf course, the only such course in the Coachella Valley, The Lights has been in operation since 1965. Its old clubhouse, more than six decades old, was torn down earlier this summer.

The planned new 4,500-square-foot facility is intended through its design to "elevate community engagement and support a variety of events," according to a city statement. Final project plans feature a full commercial kitchen, a dining area, a bar and lounge, a pro shop, meeting/event spaces and an outdoor patio.

A full groundbreaking ceremony will take place Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., with the city aiming for a Spring 2025 completion benchmark.
