Firefighter Injured, 4 People Displaced After Duplex Burns In DHS

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — A single-story duplex that burned Tuesday morning in Desert Hot Springs left four residents displaced and one firefighter injured, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The blaze was reported at 9:20 a.m. in the 66800 block of Vista Place.

When crews arrived on scene, they reported heavy fire so additional equipment was requested, the fire department said.

Both duplex units were damaged in the blaze, including a partial roof collapse, the fire department said.

No civilian injuries were reported but one firefighter was sent to a local hospital for evaluation of a minor injury, according to the fire department.

The Red Cross was summoned to help four adults displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
