Thieves Target Pool Equipment In Palm Springs

Police say a group of thieves is responsible for taking a large number of pool pumps and other equipment in recent months.

PALM SPRINGS, CA β€” Palm Springs police are asking the public for help finding a group of thieves who have carried out "a significant number" of thefts of pool pumps and other pool equipment over the past few months.

"Our detectives have noticed certain patterns in these incidents, including victims being out of town or targeted homes being vacation properties," according to the Palm Springs Police Department, which added that the repairs and replacement of stolen equipment was costing victims between $5,000 and $7,000.

The department released photos of several suspects this week, including at least one woman, on its social media pages.

Police advise residents to secure their pool equipment by documenting serial numbers and installing cages, cameras and tracking devices.
