3 Jan. Workshops Focusing on Yoga for Weight Loss, Fitness & Self Care

Workshops teach asanas for weight loss, yogic nutrition, and key behavioral management practices so people can overcome challenges

January is the optimal time to prioritize and renew one’s annual health and fitness goals, and the perfect moment to reel in holiday indulgences in food, drink and laziness. To get people on track with achievable health goals and keep them on an upward path through the practice of yoga, MyYogaTeacher announces three 30-day workshops starting January 2, 2023, which focus on weight loss, fitness, and self care.

  • The 30 Day Yoga for Weight Loss Workshop helps students reduce weight through the practice of yoga and integrating a yogic diet. Here, they learn to build a daily workout routine using strength-building asanas and breathing techniques that help with weight loss, how to manage behavioral interventions, and weight loss principles. They learn about sattvic and seasonal foods and the roles that gut health, protein, fiber, metabolism, and hormonal balance play, when trying to lose weight. And, they learn how to overcome challenges to their weight loss journey, such as slipping into inconsistent exercise routines, wanting to eat unhealthy foods, and snacking at odd hours, by holding themselves accountable, learning habits for consistency, and making lifestyle changes necessary for maintaining a consistent diet and exercise routine. This workshop is taught by certified yoga instructor and yoga therapist Anupama Udawant, who teaches Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga and is certified in Human Performance Nutrition, and by certified yoga instructor Kanishka Pandey, a specialist of Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga who holds a Masters degree in Yoga and regularly teaches yogic diet as part of her yoga for weight loss classes.
  • The 30 Day Yoga for Fitness Workshop places students on a fitness journey that keeps them on track through a daily fitness regimen tailored to increasing strength, flexibility and balance. They practice basic yoga poses that build strength and flexibility in key areas of the body, and create a daily exercise regimen through yoga. They also learn behavioral management skills that will keep them on track with their fitness goals. This workshop is taught by certified yoga instructors Shweta Jain, who earned a Masters in Behavioral Science and teaches restorative and Hatha Yoga along with Yoga Psychology, and certified yoga instructor Shikha Sood, who specializes in Hatha Yoga.
  • The last workshop, Starting Selfcare in the New Year: A Sustainable Approach, teaches students to make time to reset their energy, relax, and rest, using various breathing, meditative, and practices like Yoga Nidra, gentle and restorative yoga, for better physical and mental health. The workshop focuses on how to manage stress, anxiety, depression, connect with the inner self, and experience joy. It is taught by certified yoga instructor Bodhi Abhishek Singh, who earned a Masters of Science in Yoga and Consciousness and specializes in Reiki, Kundalini, Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga, and certified yoga instructor Preeti Goswami, who specializes in yoga therapy and Ashtanga Yoga.

In addition to these workshops, MyYogaTeacher offers various year-round group classes that focus on weight loss:
