Neighbors, you're probably aware that California is experiencing a severe heat event that is expected to last for several days. But did you know that Cal ISO has called a Flex Alert today, September 2? What this means for all of us is that our actions can help prevent a power outage (one that might occur if demand for power exceeds our electricity supply).

Reduce your energy use between 4 - 9 pm today when the grid is most likely to be stressed. Learn how you can earn rewards for reducing energy consumption through the Power Saver Rewards program.

Actions to take before 4 pm:
Pre-cool your home
Run major appliances in the morning / early part of the day

Between 4-9 pm
Set thermostat to 78 deg or higher
Turn off unnecessary lights
Draw shades / cover windows during the hottest part of the late afternoon to block the sun.

Do not do dishes, laundry, EV charging during 4-9 pm window.
Avoid turning on electric stoves / cooking equipment if possible.
Reduce vampire loads by unplugging your laptops, cell phones, if they're already charged up.
Take a break from your computer between 4-9 pm.

Working together will help us avoid a power outage. Thanks.
