PALO ALTO, CA — Fans returned to Stanford’s indoor sporting events last Friday for the first time since the New Year.

COVID-19 safety precautions during the winter surge kept spectators from attending events indoors since Jan. 4. The change comes as California adjusted its guidelines around “mega-events.

Spectators ages 3 and older attending athletics events at Stanford Stadium, Maples Pavilion and Burnham Pavilion must provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of the event.

The Jan. 28 date was also aligned with Stanford’s policies for large group gatherings on campus, according to Stanford Athletics.
