PALO ALTO, CA — Curry Up Now, the Bay Area-based, Indian restaurant chain that began a decade ago in Burlingame with a food truck slinging its Tikka Masala Burritos, will soon celebrate its 10th anniversary with freebie deals for area fans, including in Palo Alto and San Jose.

On Sept. 26, the business' six locations in Alameda, Oakland, Palo Alto, San Francisco, San Jose and San Mateo will give away, at each site beginning at 11 a.m., free burritos to the first 100 guests in line who show cashiers a downloaded Curry Up Now app on their phones. The offer also extends to the Bush Street food truck in San Francisco, according to management.

Continuing the festivities on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 12 p.m., Curry Up Now’s food truck will return to its roots at the corner of Howard Avenue and Primrose Road in Burlingame, where the “OG crew,” including co-founders Akash and Rana Kapoor, Amir Hosseini and Merisol Ibanez, will hand out free burritos — while supplies last — to customers who downloaded the Curry Up Now app. Also planned: a silent disco and complimentary henna tattoos, organizers said.

“After 10 years and nearly a million Tikka Masala Burritos later, we couldn’t be more proud to celebrate this momentous anniversary for Curry Up Now,” said founder and CEO Akash Kapoor. “My wife and I simply started Curry Up Now in 2009 with a passion to serve our favorite Indian dishes in a reimagined way. At that time, it would have seemed like a far-away dream to accomplish all that we have today. It’s an honor to celebrate 10 years in business, but this is just the beginning!”

Also commemorating Curry Up Now’s decade in operation, San Mateo County will honor the business with a resolution presented by the board of supervisors on Sept. 26.

In the past 10 year, Curry Up Now has grown from its solo food truck to three food trucks, two craft-cocktail bars, seven brick-and-mortar restaurants in the Bay Area and Atlanta, plus more than 40 franchised stores sold and in varying stages of development across the country. The company also was recognized as among the largest and fastest growing, Indian fast-casual concepts in the nation, managers said.
