PALO ALTO, CA — A man who was found dead inside a downtown parking garage Thursday suffered blunt force trauma from an unknown assailant, according to Palo Alto police.

A 911 caller reported a person down on the first floor of a Bryant Street garage a few minutes after noon Thursday. Officers and medics arrived to find a man in his 60s who authorities believe was unhoused, police said. He was declared dead at the scene.

Detectives have treated the case as suspicious since the investigation began, and police said Monday an autopsy confirmed the victim died by homicide. According to police, an unidentified suspect in the killing remains at large.
