Palo Alto City Library - Blog: Celebrating Día De Los Muertos/Day Of The Dead

We've gathered some resources for learning about and celebrating this important holiday at home with your loved ones.

October 23, 2021

This year celebrate the lives of your deceased loved ones and other people you’ve admired, or the many people we’ve lost this year, by remembering and honoring their life in a special way. Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday that takes place on November 1 and 2, where communities and families come together to honor the lives of the dead through celebrations, building ofrendas, preparing favorite foods, music and more. Celebrations vary throughout regions and homes, but it is a beautiful way remember those we’ve lost and celebrate who they were, by welcoming their spirits back to visit for one night.
