Palo Alto Election 2022 Results: Jonsen Leads Sheriff's Race

CUPERTINO, CA — The polls are closed in Santa Clara County, and voters will soon know the 2022 General Election results.

In the Palo Alto City Council race, as of 9:23 p.m. with 62.5 percent of the vote counted, Vicki Veenker (23.3 percent), Ed Lauing (21.0 percent), Julie Lythcott-Haims (18.95 percent) led a field of seven candidates for the top three spots. The other candidates are Dipak Awasthi, Michael Tsai, Isaac Stringer and Hon Lien.

In the Santa Clara County sheriff’s race, as of 9:23 p.m. p.m. with 44 percent of the vote counted, Robert Jonsen (52.5 percent) leads Kevin Jensen (47.5 percent).

There are 1,005,533 registered voters in Santa Clara County of which 514,199 (51.14 percent) are registered as Democrats, 165,427 (16.5 percent) are registered as Republicans, and 25,893 (2.6 percent) have chosen no party preference.
