PALO ALTO, CA — A Palo Alto ice cream joint has made the short list of the best spots to grab a milkshake amid the latest blast of heat in the Bay Area.

This week, the East Bay Times laid out their case for nine places to indulge in a sippable summer treat, including Rick's Rather Rich Ice Cream, a Silicon Valley staple churning its own ice cream since 1956.

"With 48 flavors on offer daily, the selection can be overwhelming, but the shop's two-sample limit at least forces visitors to narrow their possibilities — and quickly, which may be a good thing," the East Bay Times writes. "We'd have been there all day."

To help customers make that choice, the newspaper recommends getting the "Computer Chip" milkshake, featuring a base of chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips and orange blended in for some pop.
