Robin Williams Remembered on Anniversary of Death

Hashtag #RobinWilliams was trending on Twitter as fans and Hollywood miss the beloved actor and comedian.

It’s hard to imagine that a year has already passed, but Tuesday marked the one year anniversary of Robin William’s death.

The day his body was found was one of shock and grief for fans. But as more details emerged in the ensuing days, a measured dialogue was opened about chronic illness, depression and suicide. It was only after his death that his family revealed that Williams suffered from Parkinson’s disease.

His widow Susan Schneider released a statement soon after his death, “Robin’s sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson’s disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly.”

In June, the California legislature voted to rename the Waldo Tunnel in Marin County the Robin Williams Tunnel.

The anniversary was marked by many in Hollywood, who took to social media.

Sarah Michelle Geller, his costar in he Crazy Ones, posted a photo on Instagram, along with: “To laugh often and much; to win the respect of the intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the beauty in others; to leave the world a bit better wether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that one life has breathed easier because you lived here. John Stamos tweeted: “Dear money, send mom” Robin Williams. The first autograph I ever got. You are missed Robin.

Disney Music tweeted a line from Aladdin: “You ain’t never had a friend like me!” You are missed.

The Grammys tweeted a Robin Williams quote: “It’s nice to make people laugh.”
