Stanford Blood Center to host Bone Marrow Drive on February 9

SBC is coming together as an organization and partnering with Gift of Life to help one of our own

Stanford Blood Center is coming together as an organization and partnering with Gift of Life to help one of our own.

Melissa Lichauco, SBC’s Supply Chain and Administrative Operations Manager, needs the community’s help. Her husband, Anthony, has Acute Myeloid Leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. After being in remission for over a year, Anthony’s cancer has unfortunately returned.

To help Anthony and many others in the same battle, SBC is hosting a bone marrow drive this Thursday to register potential donors to the National Marrow Donor Registry.

Stanford Blood Center Administrative Offices, Lobby

3373 Hillview Avenue

Palo Alto 94304

Date

Thursday, February 9, 2022

Time

10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

You can come any time during these hours and get tested at no charge. A simple cheek swab is performed to join the National Marrow Donor Registry.

Gift of Life will prioritize and process the test kits for those who are between the ages of 18-35, which is the primary age group that the National registries seek first.

If you’re unable to attend the drive, one of the best ways you can help support cancer patients in our community is to donate blood.

You can make an appointment by visiting stanfordbloodcenter.org, the SBC mobile app, or by calling us at 888-723-7831.

Help us spread the word to find a matching marrow donor and blood donors for Anthony and others like him fighting for a healthy, cancer-free future.
