Stanford Football To Possibly Bring Heavy Traffic

The 2019 Stanford Football season here with the promise of fall rough and tumble events and increased traffic through Palo Alto.

PALO ALTO, CA — It's fall — time for the Stanford Football season for 2019.

With the return of the Cardinal starting this Saturday at 1 p.m. against the Northwestern Wildcats comes a weekend traffic advisory, the Palo Alto Police Department warned.

Motorists may expect heavy traffic on Embarcadero and Sand Hill roads as well as El Camino Real as early as mid morning.

Another alternative, Caltrain will run service to the Stanford Station for the season opener

There are no ticket machines at the Stanford station. Riders are advised to purchase a Caltrain Day Pass at their departure station or use the Caltrain Mobile ticketing app before boarding the train to the game.

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system. Tickets are not sold onboard trains but can be purchased at station ticket machines.

Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased through ticket machines onsite. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.
