STANFORD, CA — Stanford's Department of Public Safety responded to a shooting threat at the university's campus Friday, but investigators said they did not find anything to suggest it was credible.

Officials said an unidentified person called Palo Alto dispatch's non-emergency number around 12:40 p.m. and said he was at the campus entrance and planned to commit a shooting. The Department of Public Safety responded to the area to evaluate the report and sent out a campus notification out of an abundance of caution.

DPS officers investigated several areas of campus and said later in the afternoon that they had not found anything lending credibility to the threat. Officials said anyone who observed something suspicious should call 911.
