Stanford, San Jose State Alums Receive PGA Tour Cards

Maverick McNealy and Mark Hubbard played against each other on the Korn Ferry Tour, ranking Nos. 23 and 9, respectively.

PALO ALTO, CA — PGA Tour cards were earned this month by alumnus of Stanford University and San Jose State University.

Maverick McNealy, an All-American at Stanford who graduated in 2017, has been honing his skills on lower tour level since then. He grew up in the Portola Valley in San Mateo County.

This is the second time for Denver-native Mark Hubbard to have a PGA Tour card. Hubbard was a star for San Jose State from 2008-11.

According to San Jose State’s website: “Hubbard turned pro in 2012, made his debut on the PGA Tour in 2013 and played in 82 PGA Tour events through 2017. In 2018, he played in 26 Web.com Tour tournaments.” The Web.com Tour is now known as the Korn Ferry Tour.

Hubbard and McNealy competed against each other on the Korn Ferry Tour. Hubbard finished the season at No. 9 on the tour for points, with McNealy at No. 23.

Rankings on the PGA Tour dictate whether a player will maintain his card. There were 25 slots available for the 2019-20 PGA season.
