PALO ALTO, CA — Would you be willing to serve as a personal assistant to a college student for $50 an hour?

That’s what a Stanford student is asking for, according to a job posting on Indeed. The listing, which SFGate confirmed as authentic, seeks a “kind, compassionate, and patient” candidate with “previous experience assisting a high-net-worth individual.”

The job was posted on March 24 and, as of Monday, it was no longer accepting applications. The listing went viral on Twitter, with people mocking its absurdity but also pointing out the good salary.

According to the listing, duties would include running errands such as grocery shopping, driving to appointments, stores and the airport, organizing the house and bringing the cat to the veterinarian. It also requires a college degree and availability 15 to 20 hours a week.

Apparently, for this student, paying for an assistant is a workaround for all the mundane, time-consuming tasks that come with going to college.
