BAY AREA, CA – Rain will return to the Bay Area on Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly in the North Bay, National Weather Service officials said.

Thursday will see moderate to heavy cold rain and gusty southerly winds throughout the region.

The weather service is forecasting more than two inches of rain in the North Bay mountains and between three-quarters of an inch and 1.5 inches for the rest of the North Bay.

Debris flows are of concern near coastal ranges and areas where fires recently burned, according to the weather service.

Coastal ranges are expected to see 2 to 4 inches of rain with over 6 inches possible in some locations.

Urban areas will likely see between three-quarters of an inch and 1.75 inches.

Driving conditions will be dangerous with low visibility and water gathering on roads.

Higher elevation spots may see gusts of 35 to 45 mph, with some areas gusting to over 55 mph, weather service officials said.

Urban areas will see gusts of 25 to 35 mph.
