2 Arrested After Break-In At Vacant Home In Palos Verdes Estates

According to Palos Verdes Estates Police, the suspects used bolt cutters to cut the lock on the garage of the recently vacant home.

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — Two suspects were arrested as they drove away from a vacant home in Palos Verdes Estates that was just broken into, the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department said.

On Sunday a witness called the police department to report that they saw suspicious activity at a home in the 2100 block of Rosita Place. According to police, the witness noticed a vehicle parked in the driveway of a recently vacant home and two individuals near the garage.

Just two minutes later, PVEPD arrived ad saw the suspects driving away from the home. When officers conducted a traffic stop, the suspects pointed to a pair of fishing poles in the car and said they were trying to find the beach.

"We are no expert fishers, but we know that didn't explain the bolt cutters or crowbar they also had with them," PVEPD said in a statement on Facebook. "The fact that both suspects had prior arrests for possession of firearms also seemed fishy."

Police said the suspects eventually confessed to cutting the locks on the garage of the home. Both people were arrested and booked on suspicion of burglary and possession of burglary tools.

"The combination of the witness calling us quickly and a fast response time enabled us to arrest these suspects. We remain mindful of our response times for this exact reason," PVEPD said.
