PALOS VERDES, CA — Two high schools in Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District were lauded for being exceptional learning institutions ranking in the top 3,000 nationwide and in the top 500 within the state of California, according to U.S. News and World Report.

Out of 18,000 public schools in the country, Palos Verdes Peninsula High School ranked 324 nationally and 46 in California. For countywide rankings, Santo ranked 17.

Palos Verdes High School ranked 2,774 nationally and was ranked number 420 in California. In Los Angeles, Palos Verdes High was ranked 182.

U.S. News rankings are determined by college readiness scores, based on demographics, state test scores and college prep exams. The rankings are focused on six factors:

  • college readiness;
  • reading and math proficiency;
  • reading and math performance;
  • underserved student performance;
  • college curriculum breadth;
  • graduation rates
