2023 UMFF Present: Signature Culture of the Year: Los Elegidos de Asís

Los Elegidos de Asís, a dazzling dance group based in Oxnard, CA, hailing from the vibrant cultural roots of indigenous Mixteco culture from Oaxaca, Mexico. Their signature work “La Danza De Los Diablos”, or “Dance of the Devils,” represents a unique fusion of traditional and contemporary dance styles. Established with the aim of promoting and preserving Mixteco’s rich cultural heritage, Los Elegidos de Asís has captured the hearts and imaginations of audiences worldwide.
