4.5-Acre Fire Closes Palos Verdes Nature Preserve Sunday

A brush fire grew to 4.5 acres near Portuguese Bend Sunday, but was extinguished before 2 p.m.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — The Palos Verdes Nature Preserve closed Sunday following a 4.5-acre brush fire, the city of Rancho Palos Verdes reported.

The fire broke out along Palos Verdes Drive South near Peppertree Drive in Portuguese Bend just before 12:30 p.m. Los Angeles County firefighters were able to contain the fire and extinguish it by about 2 p.m., the city said. No structures were threatened and no evacuations were necessary.

The Nature Preserve was closed for the remainder of the day.
