PALOS VERDES, CA — Now that Christmas is over, it's time to clean up from the holiday revelry. Fortunately, residents on the Palos Verdes Peninsula with real Christmas trees won't have to go through much trouble to properly dispose of them.

You can get your tree picked up curbside or drop it off at designated sites throughout the peninsula.Residents of multifamily buildings can simply place their trees on the curb during their regular trash collection day.

Pickup

In Palos Verdes Estates, Athens Services collects holiday trees every year from the day after Christmas through the second week of January. They are collected on normal pickup days and delivered to various landfills to be used as mulch or cover material.

In Rancho Palos Verdes, residents were advised to also leave their trees on the curb on regular collection days between Dec. 26 to Jan. 15. Residents should contact their management company of homeowners association about designated tree drop-off locations for their complex.

Residents are instructed to remove all decorations, tinsel and stands from their tree. Ideally, cut your tree into pieces to fit it inside the green bin. If it won't fit in the green bin, you can place it next to the bin

Flocked and artificial trees can't be recycled. They should be placed in the black bin and will be disposed of at a landfill.
