LPGA To Host Palos Verdes Championship At Palos Verdes Golf Club

PALOS VERDES, CA — The Ladies Professional Golf Association will host the Palos Verdes Championship for the first time.

The event will be held from April 25 through May 1 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club, 3301 Vía Campesina, Palos Verdes Estates, organizers told Patch.

The first three days of the event will be closed to the public for practice rounds and a Pro-Am Tournament. Round one of the live televised golf tournament will start on April 28 with rounds two through four following each day.

Parking for general spectators will begin April 28 to May 1. All spectators can park at 25706 S. Hawthorne Blvd., Palos Verdes Peninsula, and take a shuttle bus to the main tournament entrance. Public parking will be available for $10 with proceeds benefiting the Southern California Golf Association. If you live within close proximity to Palos Verdes Golf Club, walking up to admissions is encouraged.

Temporary no-parking zones will be in the area of Via Campesina and Paseo Del Campo to help minimize the impact of traffic due to the event. For the streets with “permit parking only,” two parking permits will be issued to each residence. During the week of April 18, these permits will be delivered to each residence. If additional permits are needed by a resident, they can come to the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department lobby with proof of residency. These permits will be free of charge. During the week of the tournament, early morning golf course maintenance will begin as early as 4:30 a.m.

"Every effort will be made to reduce the amount of noise caused by these operations for this sporting event," organizers said.

The Community Curbside Bulky Collection Event has been rescheduled to May 14. Both the City of Palos Verdes Estates and Athens Services have agreed to the change to minimize pedestrian and vehicle traffic in our community.
