PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — Police arrested two people after receiving reports of them trying to get into cars in a Palos Verdes Estates neighborhood this week.

On Monday morning, a resident informed police that a person was trying car door handles in the 600 block of Paseo Del Mar. When police arrived they detained the suspect but said they didn't have enough information to arrest him.

"He refused to identify his car, prompting our detectives to conduct surveillance in the area," PVEPD said in a statement.

A short while later, detectives watched the man get into a parked car nearby and drive away. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and conducted a search.

In the car, police said they identified another suspect and found burglary tools, a glass pipe "for smoking meth" and a dangerous impact weapon. Both suspects were arrested, police said.
